The European Regulators Group for Audiovisual Media Services held its ninth meeting on 23 March 2018, in Zagreb, Croatia.

During the meeting all proposed Terms of Reference of the ERGA Subgroups were presented and adopted. In 2018, ERGA will continue its work on self-and co-regulation and on the exchange of experiences and best practices. ERGA will also start exploring the topic of internal plurality and prepare itself further for potential new tasks, once the revised Directive for audiovisual media services is adopted.

Ms Mariya Gabriel, EU Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society, attended the Plenary and made a speech stressing the importance of regulatory coherence between the EU and the Western Balkans countries, the role of women in media and the fight against online disinformation. Commissioner Gabriel also thanked ERGA members for their support to the Commission in matters related to audiovisual media services within the Commission’s competence.
